What is Alli?

Alli is an oral weight-loss capsule containing the active ingredient, Orlistat. Alli is indicated for weight loss in adults who are overweight (body mass index, BMI, ≥ 28 kg/m2) and should be taken in conjunction with a mildly hypocaloric, lower-fat diet.

If diet and exercise haven’t delivered the weight loss results you’re looking for, Alli® may be a suitable option. Clinically proven to help you lose 50% more weight than dieting alone, Alli® is available for those with a BMI over 28.

How does Alli help with weight loss?

Alli® is a weight loss aid that works by preventing your body from absorbing some of the fat you eat. It contains orlistat, which blocks enzymes responsible for breaking down fat in your digestive system. This means that about 25% of the fat you consume passes through your body undigested and is eliminated in your bowel movements.

Essentially, Alli® helps you reduce your calorie intake from fat, contributing to weight loss when combined with a reduced-calorie, low-fat diet and regular exercise.

It’s important to note that Alli® doesn’t block the absorption of calories from sugar and other non-fat foods, so maintaining a balanced diet and exercise is still crucial for effective weight loss.

What are the potential side effects of Alli?

While not everyone experiences side effects with Alli, some people may notice changes in their bowel habits, such as increased wind, oily spotting, or loose stools. How do you take Alli?

Take one Alli® capsule with water before, during, or up to an hour after each meal (maximum 3 capsules daily). Skip a dose if you miss a meal or eat a fat-free meal. Remember to take a daily multivitamin at bedtime to support vitamin A, D, E, and K absorption.
